Located on the banks of the Rhône River, Viviers is a must-see in southern Ardèche, for any cyclist descending or ascending the ViaRhôna.

With its historic center labelled as a French “remarkable heritage site“, its small bucolic marina and its view of the majestic Donzère gorge, Viviers will seduce you!

But the former capital of “Vivarais” is also the gateway to unmissable tourist attractions in Drôme and Ardèche, such as :

  • The Ardèche Gorges, a natural canyon over 30 km long with breathtaking viewpoints and coves for swimming in the river Ardèche, the famous “Pont d’Arc” and picturesque villages alongside the river : Balazuc, Voguë and Labeaume. The Ardèche Gorges are at a 30 mn drive from Viviers.
  • Saint-Montan, a magnificent medieval village with a castle entirely rebuilt by volunteers. At a 10 mn drive.
  • Drôme Provençale and its charming villages surrounded by lavender fields during summer : Grignan and La Garde-Adhémar, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Grognan is at a 25 mn drive drom Viviers.

The ViaRhôna also passes through Rochemaure and its suspended footbridge, north of Viviers.
